Can you tell us a little about your role at Indianapolis Airport and what matters most to passengers?
I’ve been the Terminal Services Manager at the airport for 12 years, leading a team of over 110 people who make sure every corner of the airport stays clean and ready for our passengers. Our focus is delivering public value to the community. We want to go above and beyond to make sure passengers have the best airport experience possible.
Indianapolis Airport has won numerous awards for customer satisfaction and cleanliness. What goes into achieving that?
It’s our people and our standards. Last year, we served more than 10 million passengers, and our team cleans every restroom every hour on the hour. That’s 15 restroom sets — men’s, women’s, and family restrooms — maintained at a high level. Restroom hygiene is central to the passenger experience. Clean surfaces, fully stocked supplies, and functioning equipment all work together to create confidence and comfort for travelers.
Can you share more about the awards Indy Airport has earned?
We’ve been ranked the #1 mid-sized airport in North America by J.D. Power eight times for customer satisfaction across food, beverage, retail, and terminal facilities. Plus, Airports Council International has named us the cleanest and most enjoyable airport in North America for 14 consecutive years. Those awards reflect our high standards and the work our team puts in every day.
With that level of passenger volume, what matters most in restroom operations?
Reliability. Without question. We manage 150 dispensers 24/7, and when you’re operating at that scale, you can’t afford downtime. The number one passenger complaint is that there are no paper towels.
